The Cult of Fear and the Call of the Heart

How to stop fear from stealing your power and return to the peace that’s already within you.

This message struck a chord within me. I've wrestled with the weight of other people's fear and anger, sometimes even believing I had to fight it head-on when I had had enough. What came through reframed everything: fear isn't something to confront on its own terms. The answer, again and again, is to come back to the heart. Here's what emerged, woven together with my own reflection:

The question that opened this message is one I've carried for years: How do I deal with people who try to project their fear and anger onto me?

It's a valid question, and one that surfaces more and more as the world shifts. The guidance I received was clear: first and foremost, never confront fear directly when it's expressed through another person. That is exactly what fear wants: to provoke a confrontation on its own terms. You can speak to a fearful person and plant seeds that may eventually take root, but engaging point by point only lowers your own energy (which I often refer to as a vibration). When fear has a grip on someone, they won't hear you. They're too busy looking for ways to justify what they already believe.

The answer, instead, is simpler and harder at the same time. Love the person and allow them to be who they are in this moment.

Fear may appear logical and rational on the surface, but when exposed to the light of Truth, it falls apart. Fear gets angry when challenged. It creates separation where none actually exists. It wants you to doubt yourself and believe its lies so it can maintain its hold over you.

If it helps to think of fear as a cult leader, then do so, because that's exactly what it is. Fear leads a cult of billions, and it will say and do anything to maintain control. It doesn't just dominate religion; it shows up in economies, philosophies, science, and culture. Any idea, discipline, or practice that demands rigid adherence and punishes deviation from accepted norms is a manifestation of fear consciousness.

Fear creates an illusion of separation from All That Is by creating outrage and conflict, cutting us off from each other and from the truth of who we are. As long as we're willing to give our power away to fear, it will continue to shape our experience.

So what do we do?

The first thing I had to understand is that fear is always an individual experience. What feels like a collective wave of fear is actually our individual, willing participation in others' fears. And because fear is individual, so is its absence. You can be surrounded by fearful people and still find peace, because peace doesn't come from your circumstances. It comes from within.

Turning inward isn't retreat. It's where the real work happens. As an expression of All That Is, you already have everything you need to create any experience you desire. Turning within doesn't mean ignoring the needs of those around you. It means finding the exact resources within yourself to do your greatest good.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. Not tomorrow. Not someday. Now.

There is only the present moment. You can't experience the future, and you've already experienced the past. Every emotion you feel, every experience you have, happens now. Joy happens now. Sorrow happens now. Peace happens now. So be who you want to be now. Change what you want to change now.

And here's something I was gently but firmly reminded of: you can only change yourself.

What happens when you try to change someone else? Resistance. Pushback. Resentment. Anger. And don't those feel familiar? Aren't those the same emotions you feel when someone tries to change you?

Trying to change another person is itself a manifestation of fear. What we're really saying is that we're afraid of what will happen if they don't change. And while we're busy trying to fix someone else, we're not doing the one thing that actually matters: changing ourselves.

Fear keeps our attention turned outward, so we feel powerless. It wants us to look to politicians, institutions, scientists, religious leaders, anyone, to solve our problems, because it knows that the moment we look within, we find the one thing fear can't survive: our own power.

So look within. Start there. Be the change.

Your heart is where your power lives. Light is centered in your heart. Peace is centered in your heart. Joy is centered in your heart. Love is centered in your heart. The power of creation, of All That Is, is centered in your heart.

Listen to your heart. Listen to your heart. Listen to your heart. I can't say it enough. Listen to your heart.

The formula for a beautiful life is already within you. Look within, be the change, do it now, because now is all there is. And on the hardest days, I come back to this:

You are loved beyond measure. You are never alone, not ever. The infinite resources of the entire Universe are available to you. All you need to do is ask, and believe, and you will create anything you desire. And so it is.

Reading this back, I realized how much energy I had wasted trying to push back against fear, whether it was my own or someone else's. The truth is simple, though not always easy: fear loses its grip when I stop feeding it my attention. What changes everything is turning inward, remembering my heart, and acting from there.

I still get caught up sometimes. I still feel the pull to fight battles that don't belong to me. But I've learned that my real power is never "out there." It's always here, within. The more I listen to my heart, the more peace I carry with me, no matter what storm is happening around me.

Be well. Be joyous. Be grateful. Always.

A final thought:

When fear shows up, whether it's your own or someone else's, pause. Don't fight it. Instead, ask, "What is my heart telling me right now?"

Your peace, your light, and your joy are not dependent on anyone else. They are centered in your own heart, waiting for you to listen.
